CES 09 Day 2 (CES 09) By Richard S. Stites Editor-in-Chief Published: 01/10/09 PrintEmail
Las Vegas, Nevada - Today is (was) the second day of CES 2009. Most of my day was filled with Capcom. In fact I never made it to the show floor. I spent about two hours in the Capcom suite at Planet Hollywood, and then another two hours with them at their Resident Evil IV party later that night.
I've already posted my Street Fighter IV hands-on impressions, and you can expect impressions of Dark Void and of course Resident Evil 5. Before I get into RE5, which was great by the way, I want to talk about the best surprise of CES 2009 (so far). This was in the shape of Capcom's third-person shooter, rocket-man, take cover, futuristic, vertical combat, arial dog fighting, giant robot/exo-skeleton killing, really really cool bermuda triangle space alien adventure game Dark Void. Like I said I'll have a full preview, and video interview/walkthrough soon, but this one really needs to go on everybody's radar.
No a little teaser about RE5. First off it looks amazing. Secondly, expect a continuation of the RE4 storyline, and expect it to play much as RE4 did. I had a chance to play through a co-op level, and I was not let down. The controls were natural, the acting was top notch, and everything felt extremely polished. Check back soon for gameplay video, screens, and a full preview.
Now tomorrow I plan on spending the day with Microsoft playing Halo Wars, and with Sony playing Killzone 2. Of course they will have plenty of other offerings, and I'll do what I can to track down Activision and THQ to see if I can beg their forgiveness for missing my appointment yesterday. So until tomorrow check out the Street Fighter impressions.
