LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues review (PS3, Xbox 360) By Sayed Islam Published: 01/05/10 PrintEmail
With some moderate success due previous LEGO games, it was inevitable that a new LEGO title would be predictable. While the previous adaptations could have been engrossing, they turned into a parody that was for the most part not very zany for a mature audience (maybe it was facetious for a younger age demographic). In the follow up sequel LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, more of the same has just been magnified. The storyline does not even resemble anything close to the films, and it is really not worth mentioning. All you need to know is that there are some bizarre creatures, and Indiana Jones has to fight his way through those foes until the bitter end.
The gameplay is eerily reminiscent to the aforementioned previous LEGO endeavors. Generally speaking, there were some alterations here and there. Yet the bulk of the gameplay mechanics have remained untouched (for better or worse). You can still utilize your whip for various things. The majority of the time, players will be crushing obstacles and retrieving oddly shaped items. Cooperative multiplayer is another mainstay from the previous game, and it gives some gamers incentive to play with someone else.
In regards to the art direction, there is nothing that is extraordinarily astonishing. Everything is and just feels ordinary. It is LEGO, but that cartoon style can be outdated at this point.
About the audio, some of the sounds can be immensely monotonous. It is Indiana Jones, but how many times can we hear this over and over again?
Overall, LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is simply just a rehash of its predecessors. The adventure might continue; nevertheless, this same adventure is also easily forgettable.
