MVP 06 NCAA Baseball Review (Xbox)

This game was the first of a kind. No, not the first baseball game if that’s what you’re thinking. It is really the first NCAA Baseball game. EA sports had to switch from making Pro-baseball games because another company bought the full rights. Kind of sad but they did not disappoint with the new game.

The graphics disappointed me a lot. Last year I liked the look of the game, but for some reason they decided to change the look. It looks worse, kind of like NCAA 2004 Basketball if you ever played that. Still these graphics aren’t horrible there just not amazing, or as good as last years version (the pro-game).

The controls are very easy to use. They updated the hitting so now you pull back the stick then force it forward to hit the ball, making you feel like your in the game. Of course you can still use the old format by going to setting and changing it from the default.

MVP 06 NCAA Baseball has great music but the announcer is weak. The sound in this game is nothing special and the in game sound can get very annoying at times. Not as bad as some, but for sure near this one is near the bottom in overall games sound.

This game sadly is not at all addicting or as fun as MVP 05. It is fun to play, just to work on your rank and recruit players but it just does not hold your interest for long. And as sports games go MVP Baseball 2006’s gameplay is not really that enjoyable either.

There are not very many other features that stand out besides the online capabilities. It has good hitting and pitching modes that are fun but nothing more then that.

This game can be fun for a while. If you really enjoyed last year’s version, or love baseball, you will like this game. If you don’t fall into one of those groups I would suggest not buying this one, just rent it if you are interested.
