Rumble Roses XX Review (x360)

Rumble Roses XX 6.2 RatingRumble Roses XX is the first wrestling game to make its way to the Xbox 360. It is of course the follow-up to Rumble Roses the mediocre PS2 wrestling game. The franchise goes for flash and pits a group of attractive, well endowed, female wrestlers against each other in various types of wresting matches.

Unfortunately Rumble Roses XX fails to improve over its predecessor, and offers another vain attempt at a wrestling game. Graphically Rumble Roses XX is about on par with other Xbox 360 titles, but unfortunately the characters don't move with even a shred of realism. They are stiff, robotic, and don't exude even a hint of personality. There are some nifty effects mixed in when performing a special move or a counter, but the game never feels much like a next-generation title.

First off you are faced with the daunting task of attempting to navigate the menu screen. It is awkward and confusing. It took several minutes for us to figure out how to even play a two player match. Luckily the multiplayer portions made things a little better.

In Rumble Roses XX you have many choices on how to pit your scantly clad females against each other. You can choose the standard one on one, a classic but always a good test of each character. You can also wrestle it out as a team. The game even keeps track of how well each character likes each other. A team that doesn't like each other does not perform as well together as a team that gets a long well.

Whether you are using one player or a team of two, you will have the choice of battling it out in a standard submission wrestling match, a street match, or a 'Queens Match'. In a submission match you fight long matches slowly wearing your opponent out so you can submit them. The street matches are a bit quicker paced; you have life bars and pound each other until you are the last buxom broad standing. The Queens Matches are the same as the others, but they let you choose what the looser will have to do after the match. You can have them do things suck as dive to the bottom of a swimming pool and pick something up, or strike a sexy pose.

Rumble Roses even gives you the ability to make your own character, or slightly modify the existing characters. The character creator was a bit of a let down. You could not modify the look of the characters face. You could modify just about everything else, and you could unlock extra costumes for your special lady. Unfortunately the character creator just leaves you with the feeling you get when you choose a new color for an existing character, it didn't feel as if it were fully thought out.

Rumble Roses XX is a flawed and relatively boring wrestling game. It doesn't really do anything mechanically wrong, but it also doesn't quite get anything right. They definitely throw in a bunch of sexuality, but the characters have the sexual appeal of blow-up dolls. If you are a huge wresting fan, then you will find a couple dozen hours of play, but I would suggest that everyone else skip this one, or at least rent before you buy.
