The Simpsons Game Review (PS3) By Sayed Islam Published: 11/27/07 PrintEmail
The Simpsons Game is a bit of an eccentric game. On one end of the spectrum, the game is an unoriginal jumping platform game. At the other end of the spectrum, the game pokes fun at itself and other video games. This game is all about deriding various video games including the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Since this is a Simpsons game, expect the game to be littered with comedic moments. Avid fans of the Simpsons will admire virtually all the facetious characters from the show to be in the game.
The storyline in the game revolves around the Simpson family. Bart comes across an instruction booklet for a game known as The Simpsons Game. Consequently, Bart and his family are now capable of uncanny abilities. When Bart realizes what he is capable of doing, he decides to wreak havoc around Springfield. Meanwhile, Marge is on a mission to veto violent video games (which is ironic because Marge herself is protesting against games in a menacing fashion).

The plot in the game is really impertinent, and it is not the focal point of this game. That is perfectly fine because the game is absolutely hilarious. For example, there is one moment in the game where the Simpson characters will enter an alternate reality. This is where the game mocks games such as Mario and Madden. The look and feel of this game oozes an episode of the Simpsons. Countless other video game parodies entail Medal of Honor, Gauntlet, Shadow of the Colossus, and Ever Quest.
The dialogue is well written for a broad audience. The jokes are intended for both gamers and Simpsons aficionados. There are even some gameplay moments where you will be experiencing a Simpsons episode from a different perspective. The witty aspects of the game does a brilliant job of masking the flaws with the gameplay.
