This is an introduction to Naxxramas. We will soon be hosting walkthroughs of each Naxx quarter complete with boss strategies.
-----------
Floating above the gleaming bones of dragons in the desolate region of Dragonblight is a structure of power. Known as Naxxramas, it is one of the raid instances available in World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. The previous version of this dungeon, playable in the Burning Crusade expansion, was considered one of the most difficult dungeons ever, and it would seem that this one would be no different. For players with level 80 ranks, this dungeon or raid instance can be done by a team of 10 or 25, like most of Wrath of the Lich King's dungeons. If you want to make sure that you're on the winning side when playing this dungeon, wouldn't it be good if you knew a lot about its background? Below are some details regarding this dungeons history and its features as one of the expansion's dungeons.
A Ziggurat of Power
In the past, Naxxramas was a necropolis which belonged to the Nerubians. However, the Lich King seized it, levitated it, and gave it to Kel'Thuzad to serve as the base of his army. From there, Kel'Thuzad was able to lay waste to Lordaeron and spread his evil plague from there. However, Kel'Thuzad was finally defeated in the Plaguelands. But this did not end the terror coming from the floating ziggurat. Now, it hovers over the Carrion Fields of Northrend's region, Dragonblight. From there, it attacks one of the Alliance's headquarters, the Wintergarde Keep.
Where It Is
To get to the floating ziggurat, you must first head to Dragonblight. From there, you can take a flying mount to enter the ziggurat. Flying is the only way to enter it. From below, you will see that there are at least three openings at the bottom which leads to the center of the ziggurat. This is where you and your mount will enter.
What to Expect
Once you enter Naxxramas, you will be at the middle of the necropolis itself. From this area, you will see four wings that would lead to the four different quarters of the necropolis. Each quarter has different creatures, and ultimately, different bosses. Below is a list of them:
The Arachnid Quarter - this will have you going through a web-filled hall and facing enemies from the Cult of the Damned. The final bosses would be Anub'Rekhan, Grand Widow Faerlina, and the poisonous and humongous spider known as Maexnna.
The Plague Quarter - here you will face plagued creatures ranging from fungus to gargoyles and ghouls. The final bosses would be Noth the Plaguebringer, Heighan the Unclean, and Loatheb.
The Military Quarter - you would have to face Death Knights and their mounts, with three bosses at the end, namely Instructor Razuvious, Gothik the Harvester, and the Four Horsemen.
The Construct Quarter - in this quarter, you would have to wade through noxious, toxic waster, and face off the abominations. Bosses are Patchwerk, Grobbulus, Gluth, and Thaddius.
After you finish with all four quarters, the Naxxramas dungeon gives you one more surprise. The Frostwyrm Lair unlocks and you would have to defeat Sapphiron and the Lich King's right hand himself, Kel'Thuzad. There's definitely a lot going on in this dungeon, so you better come prepared!
